This is a J style pickup in a Soapbar style housing.
This pickup utilize ceramic magnets with steel
pole pieces for a smooth top end.
This gives players a much warmer sound
and a smoother attack with less high end presence.
The low impedance balanced preamp makes all EMG pickups
very quiet even when you're not playing. Even single coils!
This is EMG's original J pickup in a Soapbar style housing.
This pickup has its coil located closer to the bridge, which gives it
sweeping harmonic overtones and punch.
It has classic jazz bass characteristics with a broader tonal
frequency range. Designed with a very low ratio of resistance to
inductance, thus increasing low end response.
A radiused ceramic bar magnet ensures the tone keeps a
tight mid-range punch with a dynamic high end.

pickups very quiet when you're not playing. Even single coils!

Treble side closer to neck (Spector M / Yamaha M)

This is a P style pickup in an Soapbar housing.
Our preference has the treble
magnet closer to the neck (like a Spector or Yamaha bass).
This configuration allows the D and G strings
to have a more balanced and equal output volume and tone
with the lower strings. We prefer this setup.
Because the 35P4 utilizes ceramic magnets coupled
with short, squat coils, the tone has brilliant high-end
articulation, warmth, and incredible low end punch.

EMG pickups very quiet when you're not playing.
For players who want a "Fender" P alignment
EMG offers this pickup in "reverse", with the treble side
closer to the bridge,

Inside the TW pickup are two independent tonal options.
A single coil and a humbucker.
The single-coil mode is a JCS pickup built with ceramic magnets
and steel pole pieces for a rich, warm tone.
The humbucker mode is the CS (ceramic steel) dual-coil
for a big, aggressive sound with a pronounced mid-range.
A push/pull volume (or tone) pot allows you to change from the
rich clarity of a J pickup sound to the fatness of the CS humbucker.
